PQ Framework
Introduction
Until September 2008 there is an Existing PQ framework.  With effect from 1 September 2007, the first programmes within the Revised PQ framework will begin to be available.  In order to manage the smooth transfer between the existing and revised frameworks. the General Social Care Council (GSCC) has made specific Transitional Arrangements.
 
The existing framework consists of the Post Qualifying Award in Social Work (PQSW) (Part I/PQ1 and Part II) and the Advanced Award in Social Work (AASW). 
 
The revised framework identifies programmes at three levels: Specialist Level;  Higher Specialist Level; and Advanced Level and work in five areas of specialist practice: Adult Care; Children & Families; Mental Health; Practice Education; and Leadership & Management.
