Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
through the Post Qualifying Framework
 
 
Introduction
 
CPD   -   is the systematic maintenance, improvement and broadening of knowledge and skills, and the development of personal 
              qualities necessary to deliver a professional service throughout your career as a social worker;
 
CPD   -   is all about your own professional career development so it's not an optional extra to be put on the back burner.  You need
              to get going now!
 
CPD   -   has benefits for everyone which include:
  • enhancement of individual professional status;
  • demonstration of individual commitment not only to existing but also future employers;
  • provision of a structure framework for employees and employers;
  • encouragement of higher standards of eprsonal performance;
  • increased job satisfaction.
CPD   -   for qualified social workers has been formalised by the development of the PQ framework which sets out arrangements
              for universities and colleges, service users & carers, private/voluntary sector interests and local authorities to work together
              to offer nationally recognised qualifications.
 
Future development
